Group exhibitions by the abstract painters of Pintura Fresca

The International art group Pintura Fresca is currently preparing a series of exhibitions to celebrate 100 years of abstraction. The working name for these group exhibitions is PULSE.

The exhibitions are now being offered to suitable venues in various countries - museums and other large-scale galleries that are interested in contributing to the celebration of modern abstraction. Each exhibition will include all or some of the International abstract painters from around the world who are known as Pintura Fresca.

Institutions and Gallery Directors can contact Thierry Le Baill (Europe) for a CD and more information: pinturafresca@wanadoo.nospam.fr ( take away .nospam )

PINTURA FRESCA = PULSE

The concept for the exhibits, PULSE, is a metaphor for the state of abstraction today. PULSE is literally the result of heart beat. PULSE is the progression, which carries us through the creative process. PULSE is the unconscious rhythm, the visceral emotion. PULSE is a mirror that reflects back the needs of society. PULSE is life. PULSE is energetic and chaotic and immediate and at the same time mystifying and spiritual. PULSE is non-confrontational, yet does not shy away from destruction in order to create anew. PULSE is subtle and forces one in close to feel the vibration.

PULSE defines the work of Pintura Fresca, and these artists make no apologies for their expression of beauty, hope, joy and love or for those emotions which are often entangled in the shadow of their visual language. In today's fast changing world many have discarded painting as being too slow and far too subtle - not spectacular enough to provoke the violent reaction desired to induce quick social change. It is true that painting (and in particular abstract painting) is a very subtle language: It does not rely on spectacular effects, shock value or provocation. Through our work we invite exploration and thoughtful reflection based on one’s own experiences and emotions. Our goal, through our painting, is to begin a dialog of universality and inclusion.

To the Pintura Fresca artists abstract painting is a process, albeit one well established in a historical context. One hundred years into this history, we would consider abstraction as a living tradition that draws from this history while incorporating the unique voice and spirit of the contemporary artist. As artists we do not repeat history, but evolve from it. We consider abstraction not so much as a dying art, but one that has been willfully ignored by the most powerful sections of the art world for quite some time. They stopped looking so they no longer see that the stillness painting offers is more relevant and more necessary than ever. Abstraction is the antithesis of our fast paced, flashy sound bite global experience. It is the PULSE that is hardly noticed, yet is so vital to the health of our society.

The PULSE exhibitions will also allow a platform by which to discuss the state of abstract painting throughout the world, the context of abstraction today, its future, the messages that can be conveyed of peace, tolerance, importance of the spirit and painting’s relationship to other arts. With the support of the organizing venues Pintura Fresca will be happy to arrange public forums or art conferences about the position of abstraction in the 21st century. Prominent critics, curators, art historians and other artists will be invited to take part in the dialog.

For the various exhibitions, each artist will exhibit 3-6 paintings for a total of 36-72 works, depending on the size of each work and the space available. The work of each artist will be hung together in a grouping, with each spaced far enough apart as to not influence the viewing of an individual piece, but in close enough proximity as to give each artist’s work a context in which to be viewed.
